I had to deal with junkie today at coffee shop for about two hours. She is a deaf person that I know that usually hang out with those tweakers and potheads. She kept repeats herself to the point where I want to tell her to get lost but I decided to let her rattle on. How I got in that situation is my fault. I was at the coffee shop with my friends because I need some help with my MacBook (How pathetic of me!) I saw that deaf junkie walking up and I decided to say "hello" since I know her through mutual friends. WHAT A MISTAKE! She started to talk about random things that I really don't care to hear about or discuss. My friend and I kept look at each other. I swear that we was having ESP moment because we both was like "HOLY .....!" We kept smile and nod our heads in unison to appeal her ego.
After two hours, she stood up and said that she need other hit. How nice of her to announce that in the public?! She just walked off and I assume that she shot herself up with something or whatever. Who knows...
Next time I see her, I won't say "hello...."

January 1, 2009

Why January 1, 2009? That is when smoking in the bars and clubs are illegal here in Utah. I am looking forward to that day because I hate to come home with clothes that smell like I smoked the whole carton. Now I can save money on dry cleaning because half of my clothes can only be dry-cleaned.

Why do I love the coffee shop?
I love to hang out at the coffee shop because of the environment at the shop. People come here for a good coffee also to hang out. You can always find people, typing away on their computer, read a book or newspaper, or chatting with friends. I mentioned that I love to hang out at particular coffee shop in Salt Lake City. Coffee Garden on the 9th and 9th is the perfect shop for me because there are always many people here and I like to people-watch them because they are so interesting! I believe that you can only find the huge variety of people here from hippies to conservative. But they all are down to the earth type of people which I love. Sometime, the people that sit next to me would strike up a conversation with me which I always enjoy. Some are very weird but entertaining. Some are boring but nice to meet people.
But the real reason I like to hang out at the coffee shop because the sounds that can be only found in the shop like grinding of beans, banging, hissing of steam, cheesy music, quiet slurping when people drink their drinks, crackling of the beans while they are being roasted, and rattling of ceramic cups and plates relaxes me. So, it's like music to my wired up ears.
Okay, I need to go back to my coffee...

The topic of adopting vs. having a offspring came up again. I love that topic! Okay, here is my thoughts on the whole topic. I personally believe that those kids who are adopted are better off than those offspring because the adopted children are chosen by a couple who are willing to go through the process to adopt a child or children. There are so many children that need to be adopted and I applaud those who decided to adopt. I understand that many women have maternal instinct to have miniature version of themselves. That apply to men too. I strong believe that adopting is selfless thing to do because the one is giving children that already exist a love and home to feel safe.
Many pregnancies in this country are unplanned and most of them end up on welfare because they cannot afford taking care of the child while those who adopt the children. They have to pay upfront and the cost of raising the child/children. So, most of those people who chose to adopt are financially stable.
I am aware that there are many children that want to meet their biological mother. Not me. Because I don't see the woman who carried me for 9 months as my biological mother just a host who carried me so I can be adopted by people who will be better parents than she is. My biological mother did seek me out and found me. But she weren't prepared for what I had to say to her. That she's nothing to me because I already have a mother and father even if we don't share genes.
Now, I am part of big family with four other siblings, countless nieces and nephew, and parents. Some are offspring but so what?

So yeah.. I am adopted and darn proud of that!

The consequence of lurking
I was checking out various blogs that my friends from high school listed as their friends... One thing I have to say about those people that I found... They are crazy! 90% of my classmates that I found online actually married their high school classmates! I was like WOAH! I am surprised about one person because he came out to me as gay man now he's married. Ironically, his "boyfriend" is in many pictures... I feel sorry for the wife who also is my classmate.
I guess it's Timpview thing.

Cued Speech
Who Uses Cued Speech? from National Cued Speech Association on Vimeo.
This video is one of awesome example of the benefits of Cued Speech.
I finally can hear properly! Yesterday, I went to mapping session to fix what was messed up in Rochester, NY. It has been about 5 months since I wore the processors because the maps was set too high so I can't really tolerate the sounds very well especially with Freedom because its map was too high that I can only feel the sounds. It was like receiving a shock therapy.
When Lisa (my audiologist here in Utah) uploaded the maps, she just shook her head because she was amazed at the numbers and maps that was downloaded on my processors. She said that it's no wonder why I refused to wear my Freedom. So, she started from the scratch with both 3G and Freedom. She set the level much lower than I usually have. Now, I am enjoying and wearing them! It's like the world have been re-open for me.
About Lisa, she's the most amazing audiologist I have ever had! I mean, I have met many audiologists through years for both hearing aids and cochlear implant. But she's the best one I have found and met. Many people agrees with me because I have met many patients who travel from out of the states to Utah to have her map their processors. Because she know exactly what to do due to her 20 years of experience with cochlear implant technology.
Right now, I am at the library enjoying the view and listening to (sorry mom!) Damn Girl by Justin Timberlake. It's a very beautiful day here in Salt Lake City with the snow on the mountains while it's sunny outside. That's UTAH!
**To those who don't know, I have two cochlear implants- Nucleus 24 Contour on right and Freedom on the left.

Imitation is NOT a form of flattery
When I got back home from running errands. My friend was so excited to show me what came for him in the mail. It was the cologne that I have been wearing for years. Everybody know that it's my scent. I stifled a smile and tried to my best to not yell at him. That cologne is not a cheap brand. Nor the one you can find for less than 100.00. He is starting to get on my nerve because he has been copying my style of clothes and hairs.. Now cologne....
Just a month to go then I don't have to see him everyday....

Wine and cheese party
I went to a wine and cheese party two nights ago. It was B-O-R-I-N-G!! I only have like half glass of Merlot. What makes the party boring? Many people brought beers and hard liquors instead of the wine. It should be called booze and cheese party.
The foods was trashy. A lot of cookies, boring type of cheeses, and some weird dishes that I refuse to try.
People- I haven't seen many mullets until that night. Even the people I know got so drunk and started throwing liquors at each other... How high school!
I only stayed for 2 hours then I left and drove 35 MPH in the snow the whole way to home.
Now, I know who not to invite when I am hosting a party which will probably never happen..
Good thing that I bought cheap wine which cost me less than 5 bucks and taste crappy.

Snow day in Utah!
I went up the City Creek canyon which is only 5 minutes away from where I live. It was my first time and that canyon is very gorgeous. The route led to the Capitol. Really beautiful!

A perfect Christmas present for grandma!

I was surfing Fox News when I found this article about palm gun. I guess I better buy one for my grandma!
How you know that the whole terrorism is becoming part of our life..

I remember when I first heard the terms "terrorists" or "terrorism" I was afraid that those people would bomb America. But after years, it's obviously that it has became part of our life when the toy makers included the fears into the toys... At this moment, I am immune to the news of terrorists attacks or whatever because it has gotten old.
But is this necessary to make it part of toys? What happened to the old good days?

Beverly Hill 90210

I have been subscribing to Netflix for past two years and I totally love that company! I always netflix'd many old tv shows from 80's and 90's. I really love the shows from both decades best of all. Mom used will not let me watch most of shows because they are not for the kid in my age range but I remember I used to beg mom to let me watch but oh well..
What's next for me??

World AIDS Campaign

Today is World AIDS Campaign. I strongly believe in and endorse the campaign because it has and will affect many people around the world. It's time for us to fight against the disease. It affects all people of various colors, hearing or deaf, straight or gay.
You all can show your support by texting "PLEDGE" to 56070 or go to your local Starbucks because they are donating 5 cents each drink plus tips to the foundations and researches.

Also wear RED shirt.
